Contribution Guide

Recipe pages on cookiki can be edited by anyone signed in with Google. If you know a dish well, everything from fixing one wrong quantity to adding a missing step or a regional version is welcome.

Getting started

  1. Press “Sign in” (top right) and sign in with Google.
  2. On the recipe you want to improve, press “Improve this recipe”.
  3. Change whatever needs it — the title, summary, ingredients, steps or the “Tips & Variations” text — write a one-line edit summary, and save.
  4. Your edit goes live as soon as you save. If the automated spam filter or the AI review refuses it, you are told on the spot.

What makes a good edit

  • Use precise quantities and units.
  • Prefer first-hand experience over unsourced claims. Cite a source in words rather than as a link — links to other websites cannot be added.
  • The “Tips & Variations” text has two headings. Put regional variations and substitutions under ## Variations, and small know-how and the reason for it under ## Tips.
  • Keep the base recipe as the most common way of making the dish, and put your own take under Variations. The rules are in Taste vs. standard.
  • Link to other pages on this site with a path starting with /, such as [text](/en/g/…). The “Insert a link to this site” button in the edit form finds and inserts one for you.
  • Do not remove or soften a safety statement — a cooking temperature, an ingredient eaten raw, the salt in a pickle — without a reason. If you think one is wrong, say why in the edit summary or email contact@cookiki.com.

What happens to an edit

Every edit is kept in the page history, and a bad one can be reverted in one click. What the filter and the review are set up to refuse is set out in the editorial policy.

What you cannot edit

The cooking-basics guides and the ingredient entries are not open to wiki editing. Send corrections to contact@cookiki.com.
